The doors opened and a few of the flight attendants came out, along with a handful of passengers. Buzz was out first and greeted us. He wrapped an arm around Laura and gave me a wink as they left, as though all was forgiven for his prank. Some of the Saints’ crew followed, then the coach, and Lucas who gave Mia a wave and pointed in the direction of the journos. She nodded, knowing he had to give a quick interview first.

Tom├ís came into sight, greeted us all and left with Alice, and then Nik and The Russian appeared. The Russian’s eyes scanned the area and found mine, and he gave me a smile that would launch ships. He walked towards me, threw his bag over his shoulder and wrapped his spare arm around me, pressing me hard to him, our lips locked. It was so healing, his lips on mine, his skin against mine, just the feel of his strong body encompassing me, and he didn’t stop kissing me. I couldn’t believe it, in front of his teammates and everything!

“Geez, not in public you two, cut it out,” Lucas teased, coming over and giving Mia a showy kiss.

“Get a room, Russian,” Nik added as Sasha threw herself at him, and then we heard the sound of flashes and The Russian released me just a few inches, enough to draw a breath.

“So needed that,” he said. “Hello, Brooker.”

“Hello Russian,” I grinned up at him, admiring his dark eyes and beautiful face. He looked exhausted.

“We need to get home immediately,” The Russian said, slightly breathless. “Let’s go.”

He released me only enough so I could walk, tucking me into his body, ignoring the flashes of cameras. When we got to my car, he threw his bag in the back seat and sat back while I drove, annoying me by rubbing his hand over my leg, and anywhere else he could get access to before I hit him away for being distracting. We hardly spoke, we just wanted to be together, to be near each other.

The Russian hustled me straight into my bedroom, closing my bedroom door with his foot and knocking me onto the bed. When we were settled, he stopped and placed his forehead on mine.

Virtual Tour w/Giveaway: Hangman's Army by L.S. O'Dea

Lake Of Sins: Hangman's Army
by L.S. O’Dea
GENRE: YA, Dystopian Fantasy

A rebellion is brewing in the world of the Lake of Sins while Hugh Truent sits in prison days away from his execution.

After taking his findings about the genetic similarities between the classes to the Supreme Almighty and the Council, Hugh had been arrested for treason and all his evidence had vanished as if made from smoke.

To protect his family, he cut off all contact with the outside world while he sat in prison for over four years waiting for his execution. He has no idea that some of his reports were leaked to the other classes and that civil war looms on the horizon.

Trinity and her friends have no hope of winning the war unless they can unite the classes. In order to do that, they need someone everyone will follow. They need the one person all the classes trust and believe in. They need Hugh.

That means they have to break him out of a maximum security prison and convince him to lead their army, but that won’t be easy because Hugh wants revenge and he’s not going to let anything get in his way especially mouthy, attractive, know-it-all Trinity.

As soon as they were all together, she headed toward the Mile of Fire. It grew hotter with every step and the air became acrid, burning her nose and throat. Sweat no longer trickled down her back; it was a full-blown downpour.

“Are you sure the rocks are cold?” asked Jackson.

“I never said cold. I said they shouldn’t burn us to crisps.”

“I’m pretty sure you said they wouldn’t burn us at all,” said Hugh. “I don’t recall the clarification of to a crisp.”

“Stop whining. You’re out of jail. You should be happy.” He was going to drive her crazy. The sooner he and Dad separated from them the better.

“I’ve been beaten, accused of treason and sentenced to execution without complaint but I’m whining because I don’t want to be burnt to something just a little less than crispy?”

“Yeah. You don’t hear anyone else complaining. Do you?” Good thing she had her back to him because she couldn’t keep the half-smile off her face. He had the irritating gift of being funny and annoying at the same time. She slowed down. She wasn’t ready for this, but here it was.

The Mile of Fire loomed ahead. Its shimmering waves of heat almost unbearable. The five of them were drenched in sweat, although the closer they got to the rocks the quicker the sweat was drying. Small puffs of steam were coming off her clothes. It was the same for the others. If they didn’t stop sweating they were going to be basted in their own juices. Of course, if they did stop sweating they’d be dried like old fruit left in the sun. They had to move fast.

Q & A with L. S. O'Dea

What inspires you?

I’m not sure what inspires me. I create stories in my head all the time. It just happens. I suppose things that affect me deeply inspire me and questioning everything (how we treat each other, the environment, our traditions, beliefs, etc) inspires me. I do a lot of “what if” in my mind and those often turn into stories.

Who are some of your favorite authors that you feel were influential in your work?

I really don’t read “authors”. I read books. I may pick up a book by an author who I’ve read before but I don’t search out authors. I went through a stage of reading all works by a particular author (Stephen King, Frank Herbert, Carl Hiaasen, etc) and found that after a while the books started to become predictable. So now, I look for an interesting book not the author.

On a side note, if I pick up a book and the story is horrible, I will probably not give that author another chance.

What do your plans for future projects include?

I’m currently working on the next two books in the Lake of Sins series. I hope to release them both this summer. Book four, Betrayed, will definitely be published this summer.

There will be at least six books in the series. As I flesh out book six it may become two or three. There are a lot of summarized sections in that draft.

After the Lake Of Sins series is finished, I want to add some more stories to the Conguise Chronicles series. It’s a spin-off series that tells the tales of some of the “monsters” Professor Peter Conguise created that you meet in the Lake of Sins series.

Currently, there is only one book in the series. Conguise Chronicles: Rise of the River Man. This book tells the story of how a Guard became the River Man who Trinity calls Christian. It’s a dark and poignant tale.

I want to add books about the Cold Creepers (human/reptiles), Brush-Men (human/walking bug-like creatures), Aranea18 (a spider/human creature) and several others.

Then, after all that, I may take a break from the world of the Lake Of Sins, but don’t worry. I’ll come back because at some point I want to tell the tale of the Great Death and how Araldo became the new god.

Do you ever get writer’s Block? Any tips on how to get through the dreaded writer’s block?

Yes. During the creating stage, I often come to a section that just won’t flow. I can’t get the words out. So, I summarize what I want to accomplish in this scene and move on. I’ll go back to it later when I revise. A lot of times these scenes end up being unnecessary to the story. Perhaps that’s why they refused to be created.

Have you ever had one character you wanted to go one way with but after the book was done the character was totally different?

I think that’s pretty much all my characters. Trinity started out as a boy who was on the run with his baby sister. Gaar and Mirra started out as a security guard and his dog. Christian, the River-Man, started out as a filler – just something scary in the woods, but boy was he not willing to take that secondary role (he even managed to get his own book).

It seems that when I let my characters out of my head, they take over and I’m fine with that. They’re much more interesting than I am.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

L. S. O’Dea grew up the youngest of seven in a family that uses teasing and tricks as an indication of love (or at least that’s what she tells herself). Being five years younger than her closest sibling often made her the unwilling entertainment for her brothers and sisters.
Before she started kindergarten her brothers taught her how to spell her first and middle name—Linda Sue. She was so proud she ran into the kitchen to tell her mother. She stood tall and recited the letters of her name: L-E-M-O-N H-E-A-D.
She’s pretty sure she has her siblings to thank for the demons that lurk in her mind, whispering dark and demented stories.
