Matilda Empress
A Novel of the Medieval Queen Who Lost Her Empire and Her Heart
March 14, 2017

Blurb:

A novel of the medieval queen who lost her empire and her heart.

Matilda, a twelfth-century Empress of the Holy Roman Empire and daughter of Henry I, is twenty-four years old and a widow. She returns to inherit her father's double realm of England and Normandy, but is promptly married against her will to Geoffrey, a minor continental nobleman. Absent from England at the time of her father's death, Matilda loses her throne to her cousin, Stephen, despite their ongoing and secret love affair.

For almost twenty years, anarchy reigns throughout the empire, and their illicit passion fluctuates between hatred and obsession. The only hope is the Empress' growing faith and their illegitimate son, whose rightful claim to the English throne could finally halt the bloody, endless war.

In the vein of Philippa Gregory's The Other Boleyn Girl, Matilda Empress illuminates the real history of the early English monarchs, while exploring what is at stake when a strong woman at the center of great upheaval refuses to play by the rules laid out for her.

AVARICE UNLEASHED COVER REVEAL

Hell hath no fury...

Saphiel's gone and it's all Kami's fault.
Panicked and riddled with guilt, she turns to the only one who can help, only to fall into the wrong hands time and again. It seems opportunity has knocked, and not a single enemy is willing to miss out. Everyone wants their dues and Kami's the perfect bait.

All she wants is to reunite with Saph and she'll face off with the Devil, himself, to do it.
Facing herself and the reluctant truths of her heart are a whole other matter, especially when it could be too late. Will the unforgiving Avarice ever pardon her for endangering them both?

As the calendar races toward Beltane, sickening plots of greed and single-minded obsessions continue to unravel all around them, but their greatest challenge awaits in the aftermath of retribution. Can they find some semblance of redemption in one another at last, or will the demon within change everything?

...like a Devil unleashed.

BOOK #1

Devils Only.
It was a permanent note-to-self tattooed right above Kameo Kross's panties, because anything less was a disappointment. Had anyone cared to issue the warning: Be careful what you wish for, she might have thought twice before wording it like an actual invitation.

Kami doesn't fear pain, death or eternal damnation. She fears only submitting completely. A matter she usually has well in hand... until an unexpected detour into kink and a relentless bastard of a new boss decide to put all of her resistance–and chosen ink–to the trickiest of tests.

Warning: This a work of Dark Erotic fiction with possible triggers. If you are faint of heart, easily squeamish or sensitive to religious/world views and violence, please do not read this book.

Cliffhanger Warning: This is the First of Three books and ends in an abrupt cliffhanger.

BOOK #2

Run.

That’s Kami’s first instinct when shit gets a little too real for her peace of mind.

Kink was supposed to be an escape, a release, but her mysterious Dom robbed her of that and there’s no going back. Her job was supposed to be an accomplishment, a step forward, but Mr. Kress took that from her and twisted it to his own design.

They want her to submit.

If Kami had her way, they’d both be kissing her ass on her way out the door.

Now, there’s a new threat hanging over her head. An unknown enemy wants to expose all of Kami’s sordid, depraved secrets to the media. Little do they know, that even she has no clue who in the hell she really is...but someone does.

Someone who’s about to reveal an incomprehensible tale. A truth that will unravel Kami’s entire life at the seams. Everything she’s ever believed will be altered as she’s thrust into a world she’d never feared existed, and only one undeniable fact will ring through the loudest:

Running had never been an option.

Trigger/Content Warning: This book contains unorthodox religious views, graphic anal sex, explicit language, dark eroticism, BDSM, violence and references to demonology, paganism and the occult. Intended for mature 18+ audiences only!

A.C. Melody is a quirky, unconventional and often contrary (mostly to her muse) hybrid author, both traditionally and self-published. She has a soft spot for hard ass alphas and the strong women who capture their hearts. Her favorite part of writing, is having the ability to explore her favorite subjects from unique angles. Also, she loves putting her characters through the ringer one way or another, to expose all of the various facets that make them tick. She's guilty of putting all her money on the underdogs, the anti-heroes and the shameless whores.

Outside of writing, A.C. is a confessed javaholic who loves reading, music, gaming, American Football, ancient civilizations, foreign cultures and everything supernatural. She has an insatiable curiosity that tends to earn her more hobbies than time. You can find her in the beautifully green Pacific Northwest with her two teenage sons and two blue-eyed, Himalayan-Siamese mixes who think they own the joint.

These new chapters may or may not end well, either way, it’s our story. So what do you do when your story starts spinning out of control? Alone and scared, Destinee Fairchild will crash her way into Jaxon McCall’s world. Will he be able to convince her that there is a happily ever after out there for everyone, or will his playboy ways prove to her that happiness is just a fairy tale?

Q & A with Christine Dawn about
Saving Destiny's Moments!

Tell us about Saving Destiny’s Moments.

This is a story about a girl named Destinee who is down on her luck ready to give up on life. She has lost everything and everyone that mattered to her. When she is finally ready to give up her life changes forever. After surviving another horrible event she is determined to change her life around, and that starts with paying back every penny to the famous baseball player Jaxon McCall. After agreeing to work with him as his personal assistant she tempted in new and amazing ways. However, there are challenges out there trying to destroy their Destiny.

What initially inspired you to write Saving Destiny’s Moments?

I personally have always wanted to write but it wasn’t until I got together with my counterpart Dawn that I knew we could really do this. We laugh all the time about how I am a little bit Disney in my writing style and she is a little bit 50 shades. The combination of the two of us brought them to life. We spent many days and nights talking about these characters. After a year passed we finally brought them to life in a story we are very proud of.

Tell us little about the characters in Saving Destiny’s Moments.

Destinee Fairchild is stronger than she thinks. She is smart and caring. She has had a rough life with huge losses, but when presented with a challenge she tackles it head on.

Jaxon McCall is a famous baseball player. He devotes his time to making sure he makes a difference in this world. He is a player both on and off the field until he meets a woman who flips his world upside down.

Angela is Jaxon’s long time girlfriend. She is a horrible person who only looks out for herself. She is not happy with his new assistant and isn’t afraid to let her know it.

Harley is a bar owner who quickly names herself Destinee’s best friend. She makes her smile and tells it like it is. Everyone needs a Harley in their lives.

What was the hardest part of writing this book?

The hardest part was making sure Destinee grew in an honest and true way. We wanted the readers to see where she came from and how she grew and developed. This is our first book. So that in itself was hard and stressful. Hoping that the readers will love her and Jaxon as much as we do.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
My personal favorite part is the twist. I loved writing the twist. To me it’s the most intense scenes in the book. I don’t want to say to much so that I don’t give it away but I can say Destinee is a really strong woman to make it through this.

What are your future project(s)?

Right now we are working on a new book call Girl Crush. We are very excited about this project and really hope to have it published this year.

Now an exciting excerpt from Saving Destiny's Moments!

This is it. The moment that I conclude, beyond all reasoning, that LIFE would be better without ME in it. I put the key in the ignition, turning the car on. I sit and listen as this pile of metal rev to life, and my mind wraps around the fact that mine is over.
“You’re the Inspiration” by Chicago is playing on the radio. How ironic it is to hear your parents’ wedding song at the very moment you are about to join them. Like my name, Destinee, I can’t help but wonder if this is mine. Having the very song that meant so much to them come on the radio, at this moment, has to be a sign that I am making the right decision. I am suddenly calm for the first time in ages, happy almost. I guess what they say is true. Once your mind is made up everything else just falls into place, and a sense of peace engulfs you.
With this new sense of peace, I am able to see more clearly. As I drive, I notice how dark it is out here tonight. The only lights to be seen are from the street lamps lining this road. It’s a curvy road, running the span of a mile, with street lights placed at every intersection. One side full of local hangouts and shopping centers, the other a slight hill lined with trees and bushes. There have been four fatal crashes along this stretch of road, all from cars going over the hillside. Although guard rails have been installed to help prevent future tragedies. They failed to prevent the fourth one from happening a mere 6 months ago, and I plan on making it a fifth time tonight.
I shift the car into drive, imagining a better place; where this pain doesn’t exist, where memories can no longer haunt me. I imagine this place, where people no longer have the ability to hurt me. I drive toward the hill with no plans of stopping; my foot is to never touch the brake. I have already argued with myself that if my foot touched the brake –it must mean that I want to live. But, I’ve concluded that living is too unbearable to me. I am dead on the inside already and have been for a while. I accelerate, going faster and faster. I want this. I want to die. My thoughts flicker through memories and unreached dreams, and I feel the tears starting to well in my eyes.  I reach to the passenger seat for a tissue, refusing to shed another tear about this joke of a life. As I grab the tissue, my eyes go back to the road. In that moment I see headlights barreling towards me. Oh God! I don’t want to hit anyone. This isn’t supposed to happen. I want to end MY life not take someone else’s!
The car headed straight for me suddenly swerves, as if they are trying to avoid me. That’s when it happens. I feel as though I am moving in slow motion. Every sensation is like a freeze framed moment in time. The screeching of the tires is all I hear before I feel the cars collide.  I hear the glass shatter and the air bag deploy. I feel the momentum as the car goes through the guard rail, thrashing me from side to side while making its way down the hill.  I feel the car turn over not once, but twice. It’s like I am flying through space and I feel so weightless. Just as I begin to give in to this euphoria, I am forced to come crashing back down into the seat.  The car finally comes to a complete stop, halted by an enormous tree. The car is on its hood and I am hanging upside down. The only thing keeping me in this seat is the safety belt, that I must have put on by habit. The irony of me putting on my seatbelt to drive to my death doesn’t escape me, even at this defining moment in time. My face is bloody. I can feel it dripping from the tip of my nose. I know my arm is broken since I can’t move it. My legs are stuck under the mangled pile of metal. My head hurts! It hurts so badly. I slowly realize there is pain everywhere. Wait! This isn’t the peace I was looking for? Why am I still here?
I hear a commotion outside of my car. I desperately close my eyes, hoping that death reaches me soon. I try to let myself slip away. But I hear something else, something that refuses to let me go to that better place.
There is a strong deep voice telling me to hold on. But I don’t want to hold on anymore. I feel arms wrap around me and my eyes begin to flutter open.. “Stay with me”, he says. He himself is covered in blood. I can’t tell if it is his blood or mine.  I see pain wrenched in his eyes. He is stunning really. Like an angel of some sorts. His hair is black and the crimson color of blood.  His eyes are electric blue. He is franticly trying to release me from this death trap. I want to tell him no. I want to tell him this is what I want. I try to scream, No! No! Please don’t save me, I am not worth saving. My voice fails me. Everything just hurts so much. The noises that escape me are not words, they are garbled. Through my haze, he is talking to me. His voice has a calming effect on me and I feel somewhat entranced. “Stay calm” he says, “no need to talk, just stay calm”. These electric blue eyes are willing me to live. There is so much fear laced in those eyes. I’ve never seen such power in a pair of eyes before. He must be some sort of angel sent here for me. The pain is unreal. Every part of me hurts, and as he pulls to free me I feel pieces of metal digging into my abdomen. The pain causes me to repeatedly lose consciousness. But each time I open my eyes, I am met with those of blue.  Suddenly I feel as though I am floating. The angel’s voice is reminding me to hold on; telling me it’s not my time to go. Those are the last words I hear before I completely black out.

Excerpt:

He grasped her hand and brought it to his lips. He kissed her so delicately that she thought she would faint on the spot. His touch was warm, light and inviting and he was only kissing her hand. She imagined how his kiss would feel on her lips and the rest of her body. What was going on with her? She felt like she was completely losing her mind.

“No Lily,” he said. “The pleasure was all mine.” He paused for a moment. “Would you like to have dinner with me tonight? That is, if you don’t have to head home right away to Orchard Park.”

Lily hesitated. She had been on a few casual dates since her divorce six months earlier but she had never been asked out by a complete stranger. Most of the one-date-only events she had attended had been set up by sympathetic friends, just trying to help her get on with her life. But none of the nice yet ordinary men had made her feel the way she did right now.

Electricity was crackling between them, she was certain of it. She felt a strong, unexplained connection to him even if her rational side was telling her it wasn’t a smart idea to get involved with this guy.

Juniper Grove Book Solutions BOOK TOUR Incense and Peppermints by Cathrina Costantine
September 1969
The corners of my bedroom had dulled to a muddy gray by the time my brother leaned on, or rather wobbled against, my door. His glassy eyes floated in their sockets. Stoned, again.
“Whatcha doing, Sis?” Stevie, my older brother slurred.
My gaze slipped over his pasty chest, sprinkled with wiry hair, and past his jockeys to his stick-like legs. Did he realize he was only wearing saggy underwear? Normally, I’d say gross and mock him, but only because he normally treated me like a speck of toe scum.

“Nothing much.” I slipped my diary into my sock drawer, away from prying eyes. Our parents weren’t home, and our little sister was asleep in her crib on the other side of my room.
“You need to grow up,” he said. “Here, it’s party time.” Pinched between his thumb and finger, he revealed an ordinary aspirin as if he’d procured the magic solution.
“Uh... I don’t have a headache.”
“Hey, turd. Juniper Grove Book Solutions BOOK TOUR Incense and Peppermints by Cathrina Costantine It’s not an aspirin. Stop the nerd act and get with the program. Grow up.”
Our sibling behavior toppled into the belittling and ridiculing stage. Though I figured it was his way of helping me. Yet, staring at the pill, I was interested, but a hootenanny of cymbals clashed inside my head and my sensible side screamed.
You’ll puke! I hate puking. Wasn’t it only last week Stevie was tripping and heaving guts like a water hose?
Shaking my head, I declined his kind and strange offer and tried using simple logic to get rid of him. “Not tonight. Mom and Dad will be home any minute. Go to bed. It’s late.”
Juniper Grove Book Solutions BOOK TOUR Incense and Peppermints by Cathrina Costantine
“They’ll be so-o plastered. I can’t stand them like that.” Dejected, his shoulders slouched, and his body seemed to deflate. Until he tossed the pill, saying, “Catch.”
Though he surprised me, my reflexes snapped into play, and I caught it.
“Just in case you change your mind,” he mumbled. “I guarantee a cosmic night.” His saggy underwear melted into the darkened hallway.
My inner geek gawked at the pill as if I was holding nitroglycerin.
Juniper Grove Book Solutions BOOK TOUR Incense and Peppermints by Cathrina Costantine
A taste wouldn’t hurt and lapped it with my tongue. It stuck. The pill began to dissolve, tasting chalky. I panicked. Plucked it from my mouth and shoveled it under my pillow.
