Debbie Dickerson's New Release
Music & Lyrics Series #2
Soul-O

The highly anticipated conclusion to Chasing Lyrics…

How do you turn Dylan, a sweet and innocent woman into your worst nightmare? You hurt her best friend Tanner, the man she plans on spending the rest of her life with.
Dylan’s pain and frustration of not being able to emotionally reach Tanner, fuels her consuming thirst for revenge. The thoughts of Jennifer Temple violating Tanner, unable to erase the images from her memory, Dylan knows that life as she once knew it is gone forever. Revenge replaces her thoughts of writing songs, marrying her life-long best friend, heck it replaces every thought in her mind. Jennifer Temple will pay for what she’s done.
Determined to leave Dylan out of his path of self-destruction, Tanner struggles with being unable to cope with what happened to him and the feeling that Dylan deserves more than what he can offer her now. Knowing that the authorities and public will never believe Jennifer violated Tanner, he and Chip take matters into their own hands and create a plan that will ruin Jennifer Temple’s career, which is all she has in her pathetic life.
When Tanner discovers Dylan’s plan to settle the score in his honor, he realizes what this has actually done to her. Is his love for her greater than his own self-loathing? Will their love and friendship be able to persevere through the nightmare Jennifer put them in? Will the music they’ve made together for all these years, once again bring them together?

Q & A with Debbie Dickerson about Soul-O!

Tell us about Soul-O.

Soul-O is the conclusion to Chasing Lyrics. This book is a deeper, darker, more of an emotional read than my other books. Tanner and Dylan have many ups and downs, which will take the reader on an emotional ride. All emotions will be touched...happy, sad, angry, and giddy! Soul-O leaves no questions unanswered!

What initially inspired you to write Soul-O

Being the conclusion to Chasing Lyrics, Soul-O was set out to be an emotional ride. As I was writing, the characters inspired me to go deeper & darker.

Tell us little about the characters Soul-O.

Tanner Staff is the leading male. We really get to know what he’s made of in Soul-O as he deals with life after what Jennifer Temple did to him. (Don’t want to spoil anything). His kindness and love for Lyrics is beautiful and real, and also allows his vulnerable side to show. The fact that he can sing and play guitar doesn’t hurt either!

What was the hardest part of writing this book?

Writing while tears streamed down my face! I’m not a crier but this book brought out emotions in me that I wasn’t expecting.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

I loved writing the songs. It’s always been a dream of mine and now it’s a reality! Now, I’m on the hunt to find the right voice for each one!

What are your future project(s)?

Currently writing a standalone Women’s Fiction that is going to be amazing! I am so incredibly excited to once again step out of my comfort zone and jump into a new genre.

Is there anything else you would like to tell the readers about this book/series?

I hope you love reading these as much (or close to) as I loved writing them!

Now an exciting excerpt from Soul-O!

The realization that this is going to be a hell of a lot harder than I anticipated hits me like a Mack truck. No matter what either of us has gone through in the past, being around each other made it instantly better. This is different though. This isn’t some petty heartbreak. This is something neither of us is remotely prepared for. The moment he saw me standing in the doorway of his hotel room in Australia, his expression was obvious and clearly he was not happy about me being there. It’s only been a couple of days since this happened, but the feeling of wanting to help him and being pushed away is driving me insane. For the first time, I feel uncomfortable with Tanner.

As we pull into the parking lot of the apartment, I ask, “Are you staying at my place or yours?”

With a wobbly head and slurred speech, he looks at me with sad, once-full-of-life amber eyes and says, “Don’t care.” I help him out of his ridiculously high truck and without saying more than needed, wrap my arm around his waist as he slumps over me and we walk to the door. I open the door and somehow manage not to drop him on the way in. Making our way toward the bedroom, Tanner mumbles, “I love this place. My best friend lives here.” I don’t know whether to laugh or cry from his comment. I just say, “Let’s get you to bed.”

Author Bio:

I am a total goofball that truly enjoys life! My writing definitely reflects who I am...blunt, filter-less, family oriented, funny, and sexy as all get up! (The last one may be self-proclaimed)?

I grew up in The San Fernando Valley, California, yes I am a "Valley Girl." 12 years ago we packed up and moved to Texas and absolutely loved it there! My suspicions of being a small town girl stuck in a city body were confirmed! Recently, we wanted to try our hand at the cold, so we relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado. So far, it's been beautiful and not too cold yet. Sure do miss Texas though.

I've been married for twenty years and thus far we've managed to not kill each other. We have two amazing, funny, and completely sarcastic teen boys! (Neither will even peek inside my books, the cover is their limit)!

I am always working on my next novel, sometimes physically and sometimes mentally...but the wheels are always spinning! Writing has always been a passion of mine and I enjoy every moment of it, yes, even the frustrating times are still worth it!

I love engaging with my readers so please feel free to contact me with any questions or positive comments you may have!

Thank you so much for being part of my journey, I can't wait to see where it takes me next!

She’ll do anything to help him, even at the cost of ignoring her own well-being, but the stress is getting to her. Gabe’s strength is tough to resist, and his silence might be hiding a crushing secret only she can understand.

Excerpt:

A fat raindrop splattered on the porch screen. And another. Tiny fragments of water landed on Leigh’s shoulder like little kisses. A shiver trickled across her back, forcing her to step toward the center of the porch to avoid getting wet.

The carefree humor fled from his expression. His gaze dropped to the tips of her toes and slowly rose up her legs, her body, her face. Gabe locked eyes with her, reached out, and opened his hand.

An invitation.
She gazed at his broad palm and dark memories rose, fueled by a violent incident that flashed through her mind whenever a big man got close…but this man was different. Gabe used his considerable strength to protect, not dominate. Months ago, he’d pulled off the Interstate to help her when no one else had. After that, he’d showed up to run with her when no one else would. And a few minutes ago, he’d tamed his powerful Harley so she’d enjoy the ride when no one else seemed to care if she had any fun. Even tiny things like ladybugs received his special brand of kindness.

She had no reason to believe Gabe would willfully hurt her. Even so, her heart tripped at the sight of the thick rope of muscle along his arm.

She believes men and women aren't that different, because everyone wants to be with someone who will empty the dishwasher. To prepare for her career as a romance author, she fell in love with bad boys, burly athletes, battle-hardened Marines…and married a chemist. Lynn has won numerous writing contests and served two terms as President of her local Romance Writers of America chapter, but she feels a true sense of accomplishment whenever she doesn't embarrass her teenaged kids.

book blurb

"Don't tell my besties this juicy tidbit: I don't know him at all. It's like Yves Remy has no past. He refuses to tell me where he's from. My friends Taddy, Lex, Blake, and Vive think he's just been released from prison. Determined to find out just who this orgasm-inducing, hung, inked, muscled bad boy with the deep French accent that makes my insides melt into liquid buttah is--I'm doing my own sleuthing.

Remy makes all of my erotic fantasies come true. First, it was in the way he kissed me: intense Frenching. Then, it was how he took ownership over my body and laid claim to every inch of my virginal flesh as he dominated me into the kinkiest submission scenarios imaginable. Lately, he's been giving me Cartier jewelry and telling me how to dress: in Chanel. Yes, I love a man who takes control and knows what he wants. Who doesn't? But this is cray-cray. Where does his money come from? I don't know him at all.

The Manhattanites suspect Yves is the thief who broke into my dorm room a few months ago and stole my diaries. Uh-huh. I bet he's been reading them, too. How else would he know to do all the things that drive me wild? I have to put an end to these sex games he's playing because I'm afraid something bad might happen. Should I call the police and tell them I know who the infamous college campus burglar is? But, damn, his body is just too frickin' good. WTF am I gonna do?" --Poppy White, college junior, talk show host, and Steeler's Fan.

Most girls in this situation, I imagine, would naturally whip around to get a good look at him, then start firing off questions like, “What school do you go to?” and twirling their hair.

Not me.

I couldn’t give a flip. I just wanna freakin’ dance.

I press my backside against his crotch, teasing him, shaking my thang, then lift my hand up in the air to show that I’m having a blast.

All of a sudden, his hands, big and strong, come down over my bare shoulders, sending a pulsating charge through my body that causes every inch of my flesh to tingle.

“Bonsoir,” he mutters in my ear in a deep baritone voice. I whirl around to face him.

“You’re French?”

“Qui.” He turns around, showing me his backside and hiding his face.

“Ohhhh. Two can play at this game, buddy.” Thinking I’m all male and stuff, I get right up behind him, slide my hands into his front pockets, and press myself against him.

He laughs and mutters some words that I don’t understand.

I giggle too, wishing I had paid better attention in French class. I couldn’t stand my teacher in high school, Madame Boulanger. The woman hated me, said I’d never amount to much in life unless I learned French. I’d argued that I’d originally wanted to learn Spanish, but that class was full, so was stuck with Madame Boulanger.

We move to the music, finishing the song.

Just as he’s about to turn, I release my hands and do the same. Slowly I walk over to the far wall. He follows, our hips meshed together as one.

“Are you going to tell me your name?” I ask, glaring up at him in utter fascination.

“No, mademoiselle.”

Oh God. This is crazy hot.

We’re in the dark, so I can’t see him very well, but I have to look, at least to see if he has a nice face or not. To be honest, with that accent, he could resemble Herman Munster and I’ll still be turned on by him. I mean, from what I can tell he’s gotta be 6’4. Ohhh, and those hands. They look like football player hands. You know, the kind that can rip your panties of in one fell swoop.

I put my fingers up to his lips.

He bites playfully down on them and wraps his arms around me.

“Kiss me,” I mutter.

He leans down and plants one on my lips. First slow and tender, but as the heat between us becomes scorching hot, his tongue goes deeper as if fucking my face with it. Oh. My. God. In. Out. He nibbles on my bottom lip. Presses me closer to him, tongue diving deeper. His hands cradle my skull.

Fuck. Yes. Now. Take me now. Please.
I take his left hand with my right and edge my skirt up around my waist. Leaning my body onto his, his fingers find their way to my pussy lips. He squeezes them, gently at first, then firmly.

I’m going to be soaking wet. Yup. Any second now. Buckets galore.

“Feel good, mademoiselle?”

“Yes. Finger me. Please.” Turning around, I face the wall. His lips nuzzle at my ears. His hands are up my skirt, his fingers playing with my clit.
“Je serai poète et toi poésie.”

“I'll be a poet, and you'll be poetry,” I repeat his words back in English, the French coming back to me.

Thank you, Madame Boulanger!

God. The mere sound of them makes me wet. Literally.

He pulls his finger out and licks it. “Bien.” Then shoves two deep inside me.

“You’re tight, mademoiselle.” His firm cock, concealed in his jeans but seemingly ready to bust loose at any minute under that zipper, presses against my ass.

Gyrating my hips and taking his hands, I pant, “Oh God. I’m going to come. Tell me your name. Please.”

“Yves,” he mutters, whipping me around to face him. His mouth hovers over mine. “Come while I kiss you.”

And so I do. I come like I’ve never come before: in the dark, in a nightclub, in a stranger’s arms.

The music is a muffled bass in my ears as he holds me tight. My legs feel weak. I’m soaking wet. I bite down on my tongue as the final wave of the orgasm rocks through me. Squinting my eyes shut tight, bright colors burst behind my eyelids.

Everything is going in slow motion. That is until I hear a familiar voice shouting for me.

SYNOPSIS

I told Gwen I’ll introduce myself but I wouldn’t agree to another date. She promised it was only coffee but I heard the hint of amusement in her voice before she ended the call. I was glad she picked my favorite bistro as the place to meet up. I realized I didn’t know what Damon looked like. I was so focused on it not being a date, I didn’t ask. I texted Gwen as I went to the counter. I bumped someone and the heat seared my skin. He asked if I was alright but I couldn’t respond because the hot liquid hit the delicate skin under my silk top. The shock took a few seconds to wear off. He reached for linen napkins. I rushed out of the bistro…

Merissa didn’t know the handsome guy that followed her out to the parking lot. She was too embarrassed to speak with him. The coffee accident in the bistro made Merissa realize she hadn’t been social after her terrible break-up. She logged into a social website and fixed her profile with Gwen’s help. They read the flirts and messages. Merissa didn’t like any of them. She used an advanced search and minutes later she found Articulate Scholar 569. All it took was one click. Merissa was fascinated with the man online. She had a crush on the handsome guy from the bistro. What will happen when she realizes Damon is her real life crush? Will it affect her online attraction to Articulate Scholar 569?
