Making It Through!

“I will always be there for you, Mady, always.”

One month later, I was slammed with the realization that some things you just can’t count on being true.

College sophomore, Madelyne Stewart, has it all—a wonderful home, a close-knit family, and great friends. But when tragedy strikes, it flips her world upside down. She struggles to deal with the chaos of her crumbling life.

On the brink of failing her classes, Mady reluctantly agrees to study with a tutor. Max Granger drifts into her life like a breath of fresh air. Not only is he intelligent and an excellent tutor, he’s funny, laid-back, and has the amazing ability to soothe her troubled soul. His striking looks top off a complete package any woman—Mady included—would want. Except, she isn’t looking to add anything else to her broken plate.

Can Mady find a way to make it though her pain and see what is in front of her? Will she take chance on Max? Or will the pieces of her heart be too broken to mend?

Q & A with Erin Cristofoli about Making It Through!

Tell us about Making It Through
Making It Through is the story of loss, pain, love and trying to find a way to make it through it all.

What initially inspired you to write Making It Through
Personal tragedy. I wasn’t sure if I would ever finish, but as I concluded the story I hoped to reach out and touch people’s hearts through Mady’s emotions.

Tell us little about the characters Making It Through.
When you meet Mady, you meet a shell of a girl - someone who lost all of the passions she had once had. Life has changed and she is struggling. But in comes Max. He is a sexy football player who becomes her tutor. He is fun-loving and they quickly become friends.

What was the hardest part of writing this book?
Tapping into the emotional pain that Mady would have felt.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
I’m not honestly sure that I have a favorite party. I loved writing the progression of the story.

What are your future project(s)?
This is a standalone. But I made my debut novel into a series, so i’m working on that, as well as a few other things.

Now an exciting excerpt from Making It Through!

When I next looked at my phone, two hours had passed. I put my pen down and stretched, arching my back and reaching my arms back over the chair. I looked over and noticed Max was watching me intently.
“What?” I asked, embarrassed.
He cleared his throat. “Nothing, sorry.”
I took a quick drink of my water bottle, and again, I caught Max watching me. “Why do you keep looking at me? Do you want some water or something?” I asked, holding the bottle towards him.
He licked his lips, and my eyes zoned in to his. Wow, they really were something—sensual and just a shade darker than his toffee skin. He was quite the sight. I shook my head as he grabbed the bottle from me and took a swig.

Owen looked at the door to the right of hers, then at the stairwell that led up to the second-floor unit. He shifted, and she was about to say goodnight and go inside when he finally spoke. “I wondered if you’d like to go out on the boat tomorrow.” His eyes held hers, like points of light she couldn’t look away from. “We could have some dinner. Watch the sunset.” “Like a date?” Of course like a date. Idiot. “Yeah,” he said, giving her that slow sexy smile again that made her lose all sense. “Like a date.” “Um… okay.” “Five o’clock? I’ll come by.” Before she could say okay again, he leaned in, and she held her breath. His body didn’t brush against hers. He didn’t touch her at all, except his lips against her cheek, but she felt him everywhere. His heat brought chills to her skin, and his scent filled her head, making her dizzy. Her cheek tingled, and for the seconds that it lasted, she couldn’t breathe. Then his lips were gone, but his face was still close, his eyes locked with hers. “See you tomorrow,” he said, with one last smile. She didn’t cover her kissed cheek with her hand, but the effect was the same. Standing, gaping after him, Charlotte felt as if she’d just been hit by a train. A sexy man train named Owen Anderson. .

Triggerman, Inc., Book 1

Noel “Ice” Cavanaugh’s method is foolproof. Get in, do the job, get out, melt away without a trace. Chill out until his next mark is assigned. Neat. Tidy. No mistakes.

This time, though, something isn’t right. Two somethings. First a random attack that feels not-so-random. Then he discovers someone’s left a baby on his doorstep with a note claiming it’s his. And the sexy neighbor who found the boy first has too many questions in her eyes to ignore.

When her handsome, mysterious neighbor suddenly asks her out on a date, Adeline Rose has suspicions he’s fishing for “help” with his bundle of…joy? By date’s end, she’s convinced Nick’s just as distant as he seems—until a scorching goodnight kiss ends with sex against the nearest wall, the heat between them burning away all thoughts of careful.

Now Noel has more than one problem on his hands. Splitting baby duty between three badass assassins, figuring out how to fit more time with Addy into his no-room-for-error schedule…and keeping both of them safe from the danger he’s increasingly sure has followed him home.

Product Warnings
Beware a killer with a heart of gold, a baby who needs constant changing, and unrequited love that’s actually quite…requited.

Review                                   5 stars

Wow what a read! Contract Signed had suspense, action, romance, laughs and lots of steamy sex what else would you want in awesome suspense romance. Marie Harte has me hooked on the Triggerman Inc series with this first installment. And she also has gained a new reader and fan in this gal.

Noel “Ice” Cavanaugh is contracted assassin to help clean up the world of the evil. Adeline “Addy” Rose is an elementary teacher & Noel’s neighbor. Both have been attracted to each other from afar for a couple years but never admitted until Noel’s acquaintance Deacon ask Addy out and Noel steps up and ask Addy out, and boy do the sparks fly and an inferno erupts between Addy and Noel,

I enjoyed watching the relationship between Noel and Addy develop and all the ice around Noel melting into a lake. He became a totally different man when he finally admitted to Addy there was something there between them. I loves the interaction between the three bad-ass assassins Noel, Deacon and Hammer with the baby nobody would believe they were contracted killers, especially Deacon. Talking about Deacon you can tell there is a storm brewing between him and Addy’s friend Solene, I cannot wait to watch Deacon, the Don Juan of the three, fall. The suspense has me chewing on my nails for the next installment of Triggerman Inc to see what danger has followed all three bad-asses home on their downtime and who truly is the baby’s father.

I recommend you pick up a copy of Contract Signed if you are a fan of Marie Harte or a fan of suspense romance you will not be disappointed, and like me trying to wait patiently until the second installment comes out.

EskieMama & Dragon Lady Reads Review: Girl Breaker by Harper Kincaid

Girl Breaker
Break On Through Series #3
by
Harper Kincaid

Blurb:

Sometimes the best thing a good girl can do is make a bad decision.

Jessica has always been the girl with her head in the clouds and her nose in a book, only dating the “nice guys”. But when rough-around-the-edges Viking-biker-god, Mad Max, and his precocious little girl move onto her street, Jessica falls hard and fast for both of them.

Max is no stranger to women wanting to share his bed—and he’s always been more than happy to oblige them all. He’s lived wild all his life—that is, until a daughter shows up on his doorstep and he meets a redheaded angel down the block.

There’s nothing more he wants than to claim Jessica as his, to bring the gorgeous spitfire to his bed. But a man like him doesn’t get a happy ending with a woman like her. He’s got a whole other life, one he’s kept secret for good reason.

If Jessica found out what he really is, there’s no way she could love him. He should keep his hands to himself. But he’s Mad Max—he’s never done the right thing, and he’s not going to start now.

Warning: Contains a dominating alpha male who’s a lot more than he seems, and a good girl with a swirl of flavors under her vanilla.

Review                                    3.5 stars

Jessica was a book lover, a day-dreamer & hopeless romantic dreaming off her soulmate. Her life the last year have been one traumatic episode after another, with losing her parents in an accident and her sister’s abduction, but the sunny side of her life was her Viking bike god neighbor Max and his spitfire, lovable ten year old daughter Piper. Jess kept having fantasies about him but knew with the revolving door of women, biker chicks, strippers, etc., going out of his door when his daughter wasn’t at home she wasn’t his type. Or was she.

Max lived a dangerous life before his daughter Piper came into his life when her mother died of cancer. He doesn’t let any women into his life due to his past, but Jess is gradually knocking the walls down, with the help of Max’s 10 year old daughter Piper. And he has been fighting it for months now, he doesn’t want to complicate Jess’s life with his past. Will he keep fighting is feelings for Jess or will he eventually give in and not judge a book by it’s cover.

Girl Breaker was a very enjoyable read it made me laugh especially that little spitfire Piper, I just fell in love with her because she reminded me of my daughter at that age. The chemistry between Jess & Max was hot, just say Max figured out not to judge a book by a cover. Jess may had been prim and proper and never sweared but she was a hellcat when they were together. The interaction between Max and his daughter was awesome, you could just feel how much he loved his daughter and cared for her. Sam, Jess’s sister had me wanting to go through the book to strangle her when she said what she said about Jess and Max’s relationship but she did redeem herself later. I really want to rate this book 4 stars instead 3.5 stars but I just can’t it was told by Jess and how she was feelings, if Max was telling how he felt during certain parts, especially the parts when Jess gave him a piece of her mind and if the ending wasn’t so rushed I was expecting more after the last chapter instead of the epilogue, I would definitely would have given it four stars. Would I read another Harper Kincaid book most definitely.

A Wild Woman

But their match takes a decided turn and their love—and devotion—is put to a very powerful test.

Review:                                  5 stars

Let me start by saying this was my first book by Vanessa Vale and definitely not my last! This book had my heat index from 1 to 10 at a 20.

I fell in love with Piper, she was one fiery, sassy red-head wildcat, who took no crap from anyone including her 5 brothers, Lane or Spur, especially if she had her gun in her hand. And when she finds out her husbands Lane and Spur are keeping a secret from her and she finds out this secret God help them, but she is also keeping a secret from them and God help her when they find out her little secret. I loved Piper’s reaction when she found she wasn’t just married to one man but two sexy dominant men, but will they stay dominant after she is through.
If you are looking for hot sexy fun quick read I recommend you pick up a copy of A Wild Woman and find out why this gal will be reading more of Vanessa Vale books.
