Q & A with H. W. Vivian about War of Rain!

Tell us about War of Rain.
It is about Miri, a young girl who goes on a journey to find an invention that brings both peace and war. She had no choice but to do this after accidentally starting a war between her village and another bigger, meaner one. Her journey becomes unexpectedly spiritual.

What initially inspired you to write War of Rain.
I had a dream about this storyline when I was 19. I started writing it, but then put it down while I went through college and building my work experiences. The conflict between Christianity and Islam in the United States during 2014 was what ignited my inspiration, and made me go back to finish this.

Tell us little about the characters War of Rain.
The best way to describe the characters is that they are indigenous people of mixed races in the future. They all look similar to each other, and are scattered throughout the world, but share similar cultural values.

What was the hardest part of writing this book?
Imagining a world without God and spirituality.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

I loved writing all the chapters. Miri’s journey to deepen her spirituality was my journey get closer to my spirit as well.

What are your future project(s)?
I have many manuscripts already completed, and they are all based on spirituality and also philosophy. If readers enjoyed War of Rain, I believe they will enjoy my future publications as well.

Is there anything else you would like to tell the readers about this book/series?
For those who are not very in touch with spirituality, I hope this book, and the two companion novels after it, will help them understand it better, and how different it is from organized religion.

EskieMama & Dragon Lady Reads Review: Broken Boundaries by Kaitlyn Ashley

Broken Boundaries

Kaitlyn Ashley

Blurb:

Kylie has always cared for her brother's best friend, Hunter. They've known each other nearly their whole lives; the three of them nearly inseparable until Kylie went off to college.

With her first year of college out of the way and a whole new perspective on her life back home, Kylie decides that going away to college isn't all it's cracked up to be, so she moves back home. The instant she sees Hunter again, Kylie realizes just how hard it's going to be to fight her attraction to someone who has become so much more to her.

Hunter is an athlete at heart; practicing, playing, breathing soccer is all he has ever known. All everyone ever thought he wanted, but Hunter has been holding back. As his senior year closes and scouts come calling, he knows it's time to decide what he really wants. It’s not soccer though; it’s Kylie.

As the two become closer than ever before, obstacles arise, putting their relationship to the test. Will they be able to come together as one, or will those boundaries permanently be broken?

Review:                                  3 stars

Let me start by saying congratulations to Kaitlyn Ashley on her debut book Broken Boundaries. This was a very short read, if I wouldn’t had been battling a bug I would have had in done in a couple of hours, instead of a day.

I liked the book but what I didn’t like was the first few chapters of repetition between narratives, I would just scan right over it. Maybe I was just a little too old for this book, cause some of the incidents I was shaking my head at, especially the secret for her coming home to go to school closer. When she finally divulged her secret, I was like REALLY you were depressed because of that. I was expecting something much bigger than it was. Plus I just didn’t feel the chemistry between Hunter and Kylie, no build up to what they were feeling, it was bam “I love you”, maybe I am wrong but once again I am from another generation, we usually had a little more foreplay we just didn’t just bam take our clothes off and bam it was over. The end should have made me cry but once again I didn’t feel the characters come alive in the ending I wish I could but I am sorry I couldn’t. I feel the author has very good potential, I wish her luck in her writing career. Oh yeah it was a cliffhanger, be warned.

I received a copy from the author for my honest review!

Her service dog, Coco, is alerting her she’s about to have an epileptic seizure—and her frustrated blind date has left her to deal on her own. Enter firefighter Dean Christopherson, who escorts her to the nearby fire station, where she can suffer through her ordeal safe from injury and prying eyes.

She brings out his every protective instinct—along with the carnal ones. As they get to know each other, Dean’s feelings for Adeline grow fast, as does his irritation with her boss, whose behavior is suspicious at best.

As much as he wants to protect Adeline from the world, Crash has to tread carefully. His overprotectiveness could push her away…and leave her vulnerable to a man whose obsession has reached the boiling point.

Review:                                 5 stars

Have you ever read a book that flows like a river, in places its gentle as can be and when needed it flows like a raging river, well today as I read Shelter for Adeline, I felt like this book was like this river.
Dean “Crash” to his friends, did not believe he would ever find the one woman who fit him, that is until Adeline walked into the restaurant to meet a blind date.
Adeline has a job she loves and boss she hates, she also has medical issue that she feels has hampered her throughout her life.
Her service dog, Coco, is alerting her she’s about to have an epileptic seizure, just before her date leaves her at the restaurant, and here comes Dean to her rescue and from there on its like a wonderful thing to see happening to both of them.
Will they find a life together, will they overcome what awaits them. Just read the book, its a warm wonderful story and I thank Susan Stoker for the trip that I undertook reading this book.

Blurb:

Sometimes to control a fire you have to start one.
A string of arsons has Officer Marissa Cortez willing to pair up with an old flame in order to find the firebug. She’ll do her best to ignore the chemistry that has never died.

He realized his mistake in the midst of danger.

Seasoned fireman, Dave Metcalf, has a sea of regrets. The biggest was pushing his now ex-wife away while recovering from a bad fire. With her illness, his son comes to live with him again, giving him a new perspective.

Watching a comrade go down pushes Metcalf to help in the investigation.

The spark never died between Marissa and Metcalf. They’ll have to work together to find the culprit and end the wave of destruction sweeping Lakeridge.

Review:                             5 stars

Oh where do I start with Backburn, it was a wonderful amazing romance. It had a little suspense, little laughs, some tears, lot of hot sizzling sex, it had a little of everything I love in a great read, kept me turning the page.

The flame blazed in Metcalf & Marissa’s passion eleven years ago, but circumstances burned it out, but eleven years later it ignited once again at a chance meeting, and flame was hotter than ever. Marissa is reluctant at first starting a relationship again with Metcalf, but Metcalf never gives up, he knows there is something still there between Marissa and him. I just feel in love with Metcalf’s little boy Ashton, he was a smart caring 10 year old, with everything he was going through with his mother, he wanted Marissa to be part of their life from the moment he knew she maybe his dad’s girlfriend. Now Ashton’s mother, Metcalf’s ex-wife was nothing but a witch (I really want to but a b instead of a w but I am being nice).

If you are looking for weekend read, a page turner, with a little suspense, a few giggles and hot steamy sex I recommend you pick up a copy of Backburn. You will not be able to put it down. Brandy L. Rivers has won a new reader in this gal! As soon as I can I am loading the other three books in Combustile series.

EskieMama & Dragon Lady Reads Review: Escape: Flora by A K Michaels & Michelle Fox

Escape: Flora
Blood Courtesans series
by
A K Michaels & Michelle Fox

Blurb:

“Flora, that’s a beautiful name,” Maxwell stares intently at me, his eyes raking from head to toe then back again, making my feet shuffle and my heart rate explode in my chest. “I think you’ll do nicely for my time here. Remember, Flora, you are mine for the duration of my visit. All mine. After I leave you will get paid and can go on with your life however you see fit.”

Welcome to the world of Blood Courtesans.

Where Vampires are real and blood is a commodity that can give me my means of escape.

Money. Freedom. Escape. That’s my only reason for selling myself, body and blood, to Maxwell Steele, this cold and lethal being before me.
I’ll go to any lengths to escape being a prisoner within a Wolf Pack, including offering myself as a Blood Courtesan to a powerful and deadly Vampire. First I have to escape the Pack, and my Alpha father. Will Maxwell be strong enough to protect me? I hope so: he’s my last hope for freedom and to live life as I want. I pray I’ll survive, and I pray I’ll keep my soul intact. My name is Flora and this is my story.

Review                                      5 stars

Vampires sure have come a long way from when I was a girl, yes they can still be cruel and scary, but no longer as bad as I remember them being.
This book set in Scotland, oh yes it appears they have vamps there too. Maxwell comes home to take over his Fathers escape, a man he thoroughly hates as he blames him for his beloved Mother's death.
He will need to feed of course and this is where the Courtesans come in, namely Flora.
She is running away from her Father who is Alpha of a pack of wolves and treats his daughter badly. Max promises to take care of Flora, will he and will their budding feelings survive what's to come.
Great book, story is light, fast reading, nothing complicated in it, just fun and a sexy Vamp.
