While Amanda gathered white silk stockings, a lace teddy, the new white kid ball slippers, and the pink gloves, Eloise finished drying and came into the room.

Hastily, Eloise dressed. “Do you realize this could be the most important night of my life?”

“Of your whole, entire life?”

“Sometimes I think you are so smart, Amanda, and then sometimes you are just so . . . obtuse.”

“A lifetime is a long time, Eloise.”

Eloise waved off Amanda’s help and stepped into the Parisian gown. “I could be meeting the man who will change my life. Just think of it. Somewhere in that room tonight.

“Here, put these on,” Amanda said, handing Eloise the gloves while Amanda buttoned the spine-hugging covered buttons on her dress.

“You’re not impressed.”

“I am. It’s an important night, as you said. Just not the most important.”

Disgusted with Amanda’s lack of awe, Eloise checked herself in the mirror. As she had earlier that day, she raised her hand and played with the tendril of hair that hung from her temple. The pink gloves did not have the impact of the blue ones. Eloise could almost hate the rules. Almost.

Amanda continued speaking. “I would hate to think that a night when I was sixteen—only sixteen—”

“A year older than you,” Eloise interrupted.

“—that tonight could he the apex of your life. What happens to all the rest of the years?’

“You live them.”

“The way you’re supposed to. Oh, I don’t know why we have these conversations, Amanda. You’re so hardheaded.”

“So are you.’ Amanda laughed.

Eloise laughed too, her tension broken. So she would have to wear pink gloves and pink hair ribbons; she would be as polite and charming as she knew how to be. What did Amanda know anyway?

“You’ve never looked so wonderful.”

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but he doesn’t even remember her. How can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish–and let the mistletoe do its work…

ttwm-teaser-5_teaserblitz     EXCERPT: He opened the passenger door for her but caught her before she could slide in. “You’re cold.” Actually, she was freezing. “I forgot my jacket this morning—No, don’t give me yours,” she said when he made to take his off. So instead he spread it open and wrapped as much of it around her as possible. Chest to chest, thighs to things…and everything in between mashed up against each other all cozy like. Except it didn’t feel cozy. It felt…sexy as hell. It would’ve taken more control than she held to keep her hands to herself. He wrapped herself around him, letting her fingers trail up the sculpted muscles of his back. At her touch, his gaze met hers, dark and heated. Oh boy. She was in trouble here, and she forced herself to back away and get into her seat. A minute later, he’d rounded the front of the truck and slid in behind the wheel. He craned around to eyeball Pita like she was a pissed-off rattlesnake. Willa laughed and Keane turned all that concentrated hotness on her. “What?” “I’m picturing Petunia coming back from the dead to haunt you.” With a small smile, he leaned in close and slid his fingers along her jaw. “You think that’s funny?” “I’d do the same thing.” His mouth quirked. “Revengeful, huh?” “Absolutely.” His fingers still on her jaw, he let his thumb slide lightly over her lower lip, making it hunger for a touch. His touch. No, make that his mouth. She wanted his mouth on hers and wasn’t that just annoying as hell. “This isn’t happening,” she said out loud, because surely that would make it true. “What isn’t?” he asked. “Dinner with me despite you saying that the devil himself couldn’t drag your cold, dead corpse out on a date with me, even if I was…how did you put it? Hot as balls?” “I didn’t say that!” She felt her face flush. She was doing her best to desperately hold on to her resentment over their past, but even she could admit she was quickly losing the battle here, to curiosity. And lust. “If you’re going to eavesdrop,” she said with as much dignity as she could, which wasn’t much, “at least get your facts straight.” He just laughed, a sexy sound that woke up all her happy spots, damn him. And he knew it too. She sunk in her seat a little, crossed her arms over her chest and looked out the window. “Be amused all you want, I’m holding firm.” He didn’t look worried. Which in turn worried her.   SWEET LITTLE LIES - cover

Shortly after I was born, my family left Vietnam’s strict Communist regime by escaping on a tiny fishing boat in the middle of the night.

Luckily, Canada accepted us as refugees and we were excited for a new beginning. However, any hopes of a brighter future vanished before an abusive alcoholic father who’s repeated physical violence against my mom left me screaming for any stability. Sexual, physical and emotional abuse clouded my childhood years leaving me so damaged that it changed who I was meant to grow up to be.

In my early twenties, I bought a house and converted it into a full blown marijuana grow op.

Soon after, I entered into the world of elite call girls and became one of the most sought after girls in my agency. By my late twenties, I was on top of the world and the proud owner of a multi-million-dollar luxury day spa.

Just when I thought I had it all, I made the ultimate mistake that ended in me losing everything and hitting rock bottom.

I was spiritually broken and in desperate need of healing. I had no choice but to reconcile with my past. This decision brought me down a miraculous journey that opened me up to consciousness and enabled me to exist in the space I do today; that of uninhibited peace.

The Last 10 Pounds: One Woman’s Journey to Love (by shedding Fear, Anger, Hatred…and Everything In-Between) is my personal journey and a testament that it is possible to heal and transform. To be the person you were born to be.

Flashing red lights and turbulent commotion outside made me abruptly wake up to a scene of a dozen men who were heavily armed, dressed in full on black armor and gas masks, jumping out of what looked like black SWAT vans. I was anesthetized in my own trepidation; unable to run or hide. All I could do was stand by my window. As if in slow motion—taken straight from the movies—I watched these men approach my house. You couldn’t engage in an illegal grow op for long without getting busted and I had enough marijuana plants in my house to face a strong conviction. In that moment, my usually rapidly thinking brain, experienced the unusual phenomena of an outer body experience where time stood completely still and I felt like I was listlessly floating amongst the clouds. Harps played in the background replacing the loud bangs of the SWAT team trying to break down the door. And just as if I was protected by a sea of angels, I slowly came back to my body and realized that the loud bangs were that of my neighbor’s door and not mine. The SWAT team had veered off to my neighbor’s house without me even realizing.

Q & A with Lina Sage

What books/authors have influenced your writing?
I have to say there has been no books or authors that have influenced my writing. I find that my writing just comes from my heart which sound a little bit cliché but I don’t know how else to better say it. I do have authors in various genres that I enjoy reading. For fiction, I like Wally Lamb, Maeve Binchy and Dan Brown. For non-fiction, I gravitate to spiritual books and like to follow the teaching of Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, Osho and Krishnamurti to name a few.

Tell us something you hate doing. Why?
There’s a few things I hate doing. I hate cleaning because I find it such a waste of time when I could be doing something else more productive. However, recently I’ve tried to find joy in the things I don’t like so now when I clean my house, I turn up the music and see it as a good workout and that I don’t need to go to the gym that day. I also hate doing research. Any kind of research. Some people enjoy looking for vacation deals or researching for a big purchase such as a car. I couldn’t be bothered. It’s like pulling teeth for me which explains why a lot of times I end up over paying for things. I also hate being in crowed places. It’s funny because if you ever met me, I’d come across as an extravert but the truth is I’m much more comfortable being an introvert. I love staying at home and doing things around my house like cooking and watching movies. However, when I do go out and meet people I always try my best to be engaging because I respect people’s time and if I truly didn’t want to be there then I wouldn’t be.

Share a funny incident in your life.
Even though my childhood was very painful, I do have a few good childhood memories and this is one of them. My family and I were living in Vancouver, Canada at the time. We had a huge raspberry bush in our yard with the freshest berries. My parents come from Vietnam and in Vietnam there are no raspberries. They thought that raspberries were poisonous so they forbade us to eat them. That didn’t stop my siblings and I from sneaking behind their backs. On one particular day, my parents were out so my siblings and I decided to pick some raspberries. My sister was standing on a chair and somehow fell into the raspberry bush. She was crying in pain from all the thorns that were pricking at her. My older brother rushed to rescue her but somehow he fell on top of her. Now both of them were crying out for help. I was the youngest and only five years old but somehow manage to pull them both out. Needless to say when my parents got home we all got a good lashing. It didn’t seem funny at the time but now looking back it’s a childhood memory my siblings and I often laugh about.

What's your pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve is ungrateful people. People with the mindset that life owes them something just because they exist. I would like to tell them that “life doesn’t owe you anything and life doesn’t have to guarantee you anything. You should just be grateful for your existence and when life does show you grace, be thankful”.

When you are in writer mode, music or no music? If music, do you have a playlist?
When I’m in writer mode, I prefer to write in silence. I find that music is too distracting to my writing process because it inhibits me from hearing my inner voice. I like to use my inner voice as guidance when I’m writing.
