On Tour with Prism Book Tours.

Book Tour Grand Finale for
When I Found You
By Kate James

We hope you enjoyed coming along as readers shared about this sweet romance challenged by tense circumstances! If you missed any of the stops, go back and check them out now...

Launch - Tour Welcome

When I Found You is the story of San Diego Police Department K-9 unit captain Logan O’Connor, who readers were introduced to in the first two books of the trilogy, and Ariana Atkins, chief of security and loss prevention at San Diego’s international airport. Of course, a K-9 trilogy book has to have a furry, four-legged character, too, and in When I Found You, that character is Logan’s explosives detection dog, Boomer.

Katie's Clean Book Collection - Review

"The way this story flows is very engaging. The mystery/suspense angle had me on the edge of my seat and guessing until the end. There are enough plot twists to still keep it very intriguing and it makes me wonder how many close calls there are at airports every single day. I have to admire those who sacrifice their time and risk their lives to keep the majority of people safe. I loved the romantic interludes and the way these two show a lot of respect for each other and for their co-workers and friends. I couldn't get enough of the story and enjoyed every page. I think this one may be the best book of the trilogy!"

Thoughts of a Blonde - Interview

Is there a particular author that you remember being the first that drew you into being a fan of the Romance genre?

I have to say that (although not strictly romance) I love Nora Roberts’s books. I just finished The Obsession, and (please refer to the above question about my love of dogs) my favorite character in the book is Tag, the dog. He even has a pivotal role in the conclusion of the book!

Slice of Life - Review

"Kate James did an excellent job of describing airport security and K-9 operations in her riveting novel, which I would recommend to anyone who wants an exciting read along with romance."

Getting Your Read On - Review

"I am really loving this K-9 series by Kate James. I've read every one so far and this book is a fantastic addition. I loved how each book has a different setting- even though all the books are about K-9 handlers in the same police unit. This book is mostly in an airport setting and I really loved it. I don't think I've ever read a book quite like this and it was fun."

Becky on Books - Review

"I really enjoyed the insight that When I Found You gave into both the behind-the-scenes action in airport security and the work that K-9 bomb sniffing dogs do. Fascinating! The mystery was solid, and though I had a pretty good idea as the book went on who might be behind things and why, it wasn’t obvious. It was especially understandable that the people involved wouldn’t immediately suspect them either. . . . Still, the ending was sweet and satisfying."

Christy's Cozy Corners - Review

"Her heart was racing, but as he continued to hold her, he sensed the tension easing. It felt just so darn good holding her in his arms. It didn’t matter how strong she was. At that moment she needed comfort and Logan was pleased that she was letting him provide it, especially since they were in a public corridor."

EskieMama Reads - Excerpt & Review

Suddenly, Boomer rushed by her in a blur and she heard her name called from a distance. Swinging around, she saw Logan sprinting toward her. She felt the floor shudder, and an earsplitting sound reverberated around her. Before she could process what was happening, she was flying through the air.

"I loved the book, the characters and how to story developed, would love to read more of her books. . . . Thank you Kate James for a wonderful trip."

Brooke Blogs - Excerpt

Her heart was racing, but as he continued to hold her, he sensed the tension easing. It felt just so darn good holding her in his arms. It didn’t matter how strong she was. At that moment she needed comfort and Logan was pleased that she was letting him provide it, especially since they were in a public corridor.

Rockin' Book Reviews - Review

"I Love These K-9 Police + Romance Stories! . . . The story flows steadily from one action-packed chapter to another. The characters feel so real! The scenes are described and portrayed well."

Wishful Endings - Excerpt

Logan stood in the doorway, dressed in indigo jeans and a pale blue polo shirt. She glanced down quickly to see if Boomer was with him. Not seeing the dog, she shifted her gaze back to Logan. He had one arm causally braced against the jamb, the stance emphasizing the muscles in his arm and torso. His dark hair glistened under the harsh fluorescent lights of the corridor. He had a smile on his lips and in his eyes. And those intense blue eyes mesmerized her.

Mel's Shelves - Review

"I loved the unique setting of an airport. The breaches that were happening were realistic. I figured part of it out but there were twists and turns along the way to learning the extent of what was happening. I love romantic suspense and this was a fantastic blend of both! I was hooked from the beginning, had a hard time putting it down, and was satisfied at the end! "

23 Review Street - Review

"I loved the whole theme of the story, it was heart-warming yet emotional, a story that touches your heart and your life in more ways than one. . . . When I Found You is not a book to be missed, I loved Kate's style of writing and how she take a story and makes it so much more than that, she makes it a home away from home."

deal sharing aunt - Interview

Q: What would you like my readers to know?

A: I would them to know how grateful I am to everyone who chooses to spend some of their valuable leisure time reading one of my books. I am also very appreciative when those same people take a moment to send me an e-mail or post a review to let me know how they enjoyed one of my books. Ultimately, that’s what being an author is all about!

Falling Leaves - Review

"When I Found You is a wonderful story with the airport as the main setting. I have been in love with airports across the world since I was small, so this story is totally a must read. And I have to say that it doesn't disappoint. The story was wonderfully written with the right amount of suspense and action."

Is she part of the solution…or the problem?

It could be a terrorist threat. Or is it some other sinister plot? An unprecedented rash of security breaches at San Diego's international airport is putting passengers at risk and bringing the competence of the airport's chief of security, Ariana Atkins, into question. With explosives the weapon of choice, police K-9 unit captain Logan O'Connor and his bomb detection dog, Boomer, might be Ariana's best, if not only, line of defense. Logan is certain his belief in Ariana, and his growing love for her, aren't misplaced…but it wouldn't be the first time he's misjudged someone's intentions.

BLURB:

Conquered is a passionate love story, as much about its main characters, Guam native Jesi Taimanglo and American GI Johan Landers, as it is about author Paula Quinene’s passion for Guam itself. As her characters try to find a place for themselves amid the war, Jesi’s relatives, and the Chamorro traditions, Quinene charts a path through a seldom told story: Guam’s place in WWII. An original idea written with an original voice that invites readers in to the exotic world of the Pacific, complete with coconut trees, banana doughnuts, dolphins swimming in the ocean, and moonlight on Pago Bay, Conquered also recounts the brutal horrors of the Japanese occupation on Guam, a US territory largely forgotten back in the States. In addition to learning about a singular and little-known culture that has played a part in the world wars of the Pacific, readers will undoubtedly crave the recipe for banana doughnuts.

Excerpt:

Somewhere in chapter 3

“Drink,” she said.

Johan closed his eyes and took a sip. Then a gulp. Coolness spread through his body. She’s nice. It was the most delicious thing he’d put on his tongue. Refreshing. The girl held the cup for him until he finished.

“Thank you.”

The girl nodded.

She set the cup aside and stepped away to pick up the coconut and machete again. Keeping her left hand out of the way, the girl held the machete in her right hand, centered it on the coconut, and hit the coconut in the middle. It split in half. She brought the coconut to him. Using the skin that was between her teeth, she scooped the coconut flesh and fed him.

Johan savored the soft meat. It wasn’t as sweet as the stuff his granny used to sprinkle on cake. But it was really good.

The girl was about five feet and a couple inches, and it looked as if she could use something to eat, though she wasn’t as thin as the other refugees he’d seen. She wasn’t trembling anymore. When she finished, she set aside the spent coconut and cardboard.

“Thank you, Miss. My name is Johan. What’s your name?”

She narrowed her eyes at him for a moment.

“Jesi, my name is Jesi.”

Her voice was pleasant. He was exhausted. What is it about her eyes? She stood up, startling him, and walked deeper into the cave.

Pretty When You Cry:
A new dark romance novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Wanderlust and Prisoner…
I came from a place of dirt floors and holy scriptures. They told me the world outside was full of sin, and the first night I escape, I find out it’s true. Ivan saves me, but he does more than that. He takes me. He makes me his own girl.
My conditioning runs too deep. Ivan sees what I am.
That’s the thing about showing a mouse to a cat. He wants to play. And it’s terrifying, even for me. Because the only thing darker than my past is his.
Caught for Christmas
I’ll be home for Christmas…
The plan is simple. Break into the club and steal the money I need to save my father. The ex-military bouncer isn’t going to stop me, even if he is hot as hell.
If only in my dreams…
Except he has a curious knack for knowing my next step.
And there’s something dark underneath his desire, something dangerous. If he catches me, he might not let me go.
DARKLOVE-TEASER
EXCERPT FROM PRETTY WHEN YOU CRY
He’s beautiful in a strange and sinful way, one that makes me more afraid. Not colorful exactly. His eyes are a gray color I’ve never seen before, both deep and opaque at the same time. The building itself is beautiful too with its wrought iron gate around a large courtyard. The fountain in the center is broken, but that only adds to the mystique.
The marquee sign reads Grand, a flash of neon pink against the black night.
He steps closer, the light from the sign illuminating his face, making him look even more sinister. “What’s your name?”
I couldn’t answer those other men, but I find something inside for him. I find truth. “I’m not allowed to say my name to someone else.”
He studies me for a long moment, taking in my tangled hair and my white dress. “Why not?”
Because God will punish me. “Because I’m running away.”
He nods like this is what he expected. “Do you have money?”
I have twenty dollars left after bus fare. “Enough.”
His lips twist, and I wonder if that’s what a smile looks like on him. It’s terrifying. “No, you don’t,” he says. “The question is, what would you do to earn some?”
Anything.
My voice is just a whisper. “I’m a good girl.”
He laughs, and I see that I was wrong before. That wasn’t a smile. It was a taunt. A challenge. This is a real smile, one with teeth. The sound rolls through me like a coming storm, deep and foreboding.
“I know,” he says gently. “What’s your name?”
“Candace.”
He studies me. “Pretty name.”
His voice is deep with promise and something else I can’t decipher. All I know is he isn’t really talking about my name. And I know it isn’t really a compliment. “Thank you.”
“Now come inside, Candace.”
He turns and walks away before I can answer. I can feel the night closing in on me, the sharks in the water waiting to strike. It’s not really a choice. I think the man knows that. He’s counting on it. Whatever is going to happen inside will be bad, and the only thing worse is what would have happened outside.
I hurry to catch up with him, almost running across the crumbled driveway, under the marquee sign for the Grand, past the broken fountain, desperate for the dubious safety of the man who could hold the darkness at bay. It’s the same thing that kept me in Harmony Hills for so long—fear and twisted gratitude.

Excerpt:

Ramsay’s voice was quiet behind her, peaceful, and yet a little sad. “My dad brought me here when I was little. The only time I remember ever having him to myself. Eryx and I had fought about something, a worse blow up than normal. Dad thought me having a place to go and gather my thoughts might be in the best interest of the whole castle.”
Trinity paced her breathing and kept her eyes locked on the majestic sun as it tipped into the teal water. She could see this sight tomorrow, or the day after, but the story bubbling up from Ramsay’s memory was huge. The intensity of it crackled and snapped around her.
“Aside from Eryx, I’ve never brought anyone here, and even he has only been a time or two.” He pulled in a slow breath. “It was the only thing I had of my dad I didn’t have to share with anyone else.” His fingers tightened on her shoulders. “I wanted to share it with you.”
Honest to God, a battering ram couldn’t have impacted her senses more than his simple, heart-felt gift. She was dumbfounded. Too stunned and humbled to formulate even the basest response.
“Look at it, Trinity. That sunset is the same impression you made on me the first time I saw you. Powerful. Colorful. Bright and warm.” He slid his hands around her waist and wrapped her up tight, his mouth at her ear. “Every time I see or think of you, this is what fills me.”
She tried to turn, her body and senses clamoring for eye contact. To anchor herself in his steel-gray eyes.
He stopped her with a flex of his arms. “Not yet. I need you to watch it until it’s gone. To know that it’s the last sunset you’ll see without a mate. And know that the sunrise we watch tomorrow will be ours.”
