FIRST LOVE NEVER FADES . . .

It's been a long time since widow Fia Thomas felt the spark of physical attraction. But from the moment she meets Elliot Ross one stormy night, she yearns for a fresh start, for him to make her feel whole and well again. With his broad shoulders and a warm smile crinkling his dark eyes, he could finally offer her the solace she's been seeking. And she's willing to give him anything in return . . . except a promise that could break his heart.

Now that Elliot is out of the Army, he's looking for a place to call home. Tallgrass was just a stop to stretch his legs, yet one look at Fia halts him in his tracks. In her sweet, sassy company, he finds the soul mate he never thought he'd have. But Fia is holding something back-something that keeps her from making any plans. Elliot's new mission: gain Fia's trust...and convince her that summer's end can mean a new beginning.

“Go on. Sing more.”
He did, and she listened with her eyes half closed. The tones were sweet, the emotion fierce, the quality hands-down better than the singer on the radio. Everything she learned about Elliot was adding up to an extraordinary man.
While she remained plain, average Fia. With “issues.”
“Beautiful,” she responded when the song ended. At about the same time, he turned into her driveway.
He came around and held hands with her to the stoop and up the steps, where he propped open the storm door with his boot while she unlocked the door. She set her purse on the floor inside the door, then faced him. “I’m not going to invite you inside because you’ve got to get up early.”
“Darn.” He moved a step closer, fitted his hands to her waist, and leaned toward her. She met him in the kiss, her mouth parting, her hands sliding around to the back of his neck, combing through his silky hair. Dear Lord, she’d forgotten how good a kiss could be. She nibbled at his lip, pausing only when his tongue thrust between her teeth, invading, exploring, rousing a long-unsatisfied need deep inside. Moving intuitively, her hands glided over soft cotton that covered the lean muscles along his spine. When they reached the rougher texture of jeans and leather belt, the tips tingled, like the briefest touch of a live wire, singeing and searing and sparking pleasure through her body.
When she stroked a few inches lower to slide her palm over his erection, his breath caught, and so did hers. It had been so very long . . .would be so very easy . . . back up one step, don’t let go, take him to the bedroom or, better, the couch, strip off their clothes . . .So easy. So perfect. So wrong.
Even the thought of that last word was wrong. It jangled in the midst of nerves humming with need. It pulled her out of the haze of what she could do, of the incredible satisfaction she could have, and brought back all the ugly uncertainty of her life. Elliot might be Prince Charming, but she was no princess, and her life was no simple, sweet fairy tale with a happily ever after.
Tears seeped into her eyes—disappointment, weariness—and she opened her eyes to blink them away. Apparently sensing the change in her, Elliot ended the kiss with another tiny, sweeter kiss, then clasped her hands in his. For a long time, he studied her face with an intensity that rippled along her skin, then he took a step back, putting breathing room between them.
When he spoke, he sounded as if he’d done a long hump with a heavy ruck on a hot day. “You never did tell me.”
“What?”
“Is Fia short for something?”
“You never did ask.” She didn’t sound much better. “Sofia.”
He laid his palm gently against her cheek, repeated her name, then backed away even farther. “Thank you, Sofia.”
“For what?”
“Being in that parking lot Friday night. For liking me and my dog. For kissing like—” Breaking off, he grinned and shook his head. “Damn.”
“It takes two.”
His grin strengthened, then slowly faded. “Good night.”
Leaning against the door jamb, she watched him go to his truck, get in, and drive away with a final wave. Sighing deeply, she stepped inside the house, closed and locked the door, and stumbled, hitting the floor with a solid thud.

DRIVEN TO TEMPTATION
A Driven to Love Story
Melia Alexander
Released June 13th, 2016
Entangled Lovestruck

Aidan Ross might be an engineering genius, but people skills? Not this soldier’s forte. Thankfully, a trusted friend is accompanying him to a make-or-break tradeshow…but then a bubbly redhead hops into his truck, claiming to be his new road trip buddy. She’s a gorgeous distraction he can’t afford. Or ignore.

Delaney Harper comes from a family of engineers—male engineers. With several impressive projects under her belt, she’s on a mission to prove she can hang with the big boys, too. But cracking the sexy, closed-off CEO is tougher than she expects…and hotter than she could have imagined.

With the tempting woman disrupting his carefully planned schedule, Aidan can’t focus on the road, much less their upcoming presentation. The future of his company is riding on this trip, and if they’re to land a huge account, he has to keep his head—and his heart—in the game…

Delaney’s eyes opened as she scrambled to her feet, her heartbeat pounding in her ears. Getting caught eavesdropping on her boss’s private moment would be an awful idea. She could kiss any hope of a promotion good- bye if that happened.
She headed back across the room and barely got her butt in the chair before the bathroom door opened. She grabbed her laptop, willed herself to stay calm as she jabbed at the keyboard.
God, she’d done nothing but work the past few months, trying to make a good, strong impression on Harold, hoping he’d give her a chance to run her own project. On top of that, she’d worked nights and weekends to hone the presentation—
Aidan stalked out of the bathroom in much the same way he’d stalked in, only this time all he had on were his jeans.
With the buttons undone.
The soft mat of hair trailed down to Happy Land. But it was apparent that underneath his unbuttoned jeans, Aidan was commando.
Delaney’s mouth dried. She should tear her gaze away, plant it rmly on the computer screen, turn her mind from the erotic path it’d taken to the more sane one.
Damn it.
She knew what she had to do, yet she couldn’t. Look. Away.
Thank God he seemed too preoccupied with grabbing his duffel bag off the bed and heading back to the bathroom. Once the door shut, she slumped against the chair, the softly padded fabric against her thin tank top the only thing grounding her in place. She heaved in a deep, steadying breath and fanned herself with one hand. He was way too sexy for his own good...or hers.

Q & A with Melia Alexander

What books/authors have influenced your writing?
My head immediately turns to writing books, and of those, I’d have to say Deb Dixon’s GOAL, MOTIVATION, AND CONFLICT. This book totally changed how I think about building a story, and taught me that conflict is the heart of a great book!

Share a funny incident in your life
Oh, wow. There are so many! But here’s a personal favorite: My day job requires me to attend conferences every now and then, and for a while, there was one conference in particular that I trekked to annually. One year, I checked into my hotel, then, like I’d done every single time, I walked to a local grocer to grab dinner.
I headed back to the hotel, my brain soaking in the countless questions I had for colleagues I knew I’d be meeting at the conference. By the time I stuck my key card in the hotel’s side door, climbed up the stairs, and reached my room, I was totally ready to settle in and eat. Except, two things registered when I put my key card in my room’s lock. First, it wouldn’t work. No green light, no low whirring sound that indicated I could turn the knob and walk in. Second, there were voices coming from the other side of the door. A man and a woman discussing what they’d done that day. Yeah, they were LOUD.
Confused, I checked the room number on the key card jacket, checked the number on the door, and was doubly confused when they matched! I checked again, just to be sure, and yeah, I’d gotten it right the first time.
So, I did the most reasonable thing next. I knocked. Unfortunately, the lady wouldn’t open the door (probably thinking I was some deranged person). I told her I couldn’t figure out what they were doing in my room, and she claimed the room was there’s. Impossible! My stuff was in there. She was completely undaunted and suggested I go to the front desk.
Well, heck yeah, I sure was going to the front desk! Fuming, I marched down the hall. Someone was going to get a piece of my mind. How dare they clear my stuff out and give my room to someone else?
Then something amazing happened as I approached the elevator. Right there, on a placard in BIG, BOLD letters was the name of the hotel…and it wasn’t the one I had checked into that afternoon.
While this was the hotel I’d stayed at whenever I’d attended this conference, I’d decided that particular year to stay at THE ONE NEXT TO IT. And somewhere between the walk to the grocery store, picking out a sandwich and drink, and the walk back, my poor, tired brain took me to the hotel it was used to going to.
I mean, really? Who does that?!
You know, I don’t think I’ve ever shared that particular piece of brilliance on my part, so you all keep it to yourselves, ‘kay?

Who was your favorite hero / heroine that you have written or read.

I’d have to say the one of the heroes who stands out to me is Connor in Sandy Fraser’s BENEATH TWO MOONS. Clearly alpha and clearly wounded. Connor was sexy and vulnerable at the same time, which, for me, is a potent combination!

Have you ever had one character you wanted to go one way with but after the book was done the character was totally different?
Oh, yeah, I have. What writer hasn’t? LOL. I wrote a heroine who was supposed to be formal and sappy and who *fought* me through the entire book! By the time I finished she was feisty and creative and way more fun than what I’d envisioned her to be, and the book was so much better because of it!

What’s your next project?
I’m working on a friends-to-lovers / best friend’s little sister story that is so much fun! I so feel for the hero in this book. LOL! Once the heroine makes up her mind, he’s gonna have his hands full!

Your favorite book by you or another author.
That would have to be Cop Next Door by Jenna Mills. Unbelievable chemistry between the hero / heroine. This one’s on my keeper shelf for good reason!

Clean shaven, scruff, beard, or mustache…Ink, yes / no?

Yes. How could I possibly choose just one! To be perfectly honest, the packaging might be pretty, but I’m more interested in the guy underneath the fluff. What’s he really like once the persona’s been stripped away? That’s the most interesting part about the guy, and who I’d like to get to know!

4 Stars

Driven to Temptation was a cute relaxing read. I fell in love with the character Delaney, she is the type of woman I try to instill into my daughter,  you can do anything a man can do and better. And that is exactly what Delaney does, she is in a career that is dominated by men, especially all the men in her family all engineers, she has something to prove that she doesn’t have to be like all the women in her family,  take care of her husband, kids & house while the man of the house is the best engineer he can be, she can be the best engineer & make it in a man’s world.  Aiden is  genius engineer but interacting with people he was known as the Ice King, until Delaney entered the picture, Ice King started to dethaw. I loved the interaction between Delaney & Aiden it had me giggling & a few times had me shaking my head at Aiden. If you are looking for quick beach read or vacation read I recommend you pick up a copy of Driven to Temptation. Thank you to Tasty Book Tours for the opportunity to read & review Driven to Tempation!

Excerpt:
He looked through the rifle scope. He only saw the three people in the kitchen. The blond girl laughed silently. The dark haired girl picked up a cookie and took a bite. He should shoot her for her own stupidity, putting those worthless calories in her body when her body was so perfect. Didn’t she know empty calories now only led to heart disease and fat hips later?

No other movement anywhere. He supposed his target could be in the basement. He could wait. He had time. He had patience. He had perfection.

As he moved the scope and studied the rest of the house again, he took in the tree in the back yard. It was a red maple, beautiful and symmetrical. He loved how the leaves started changing into a brilliant red. Maybe, after he finished this job, he would stop at a nursery and buy one. It would look good in his own yard.

A tall, good-looking young man of about twenty entered the kitchen from stage right, obviously from a hallway. The target followed him.

“At last…” Cross hairs in the middle of the man’s back, he drew in a deep breath and let half of it out. He would love to stay here a few more moments and revel in the rush that came with knowing the man had no idea he stood in the line of fire. But the target could any second turn and disappear back into the hidden part of the house. He didn’t have the luxury of taking that chance.

He squeezed the trigger.
