book blurb

Fresh out of college, Hailey Wells left the hustle and bustle of Chicago to accept a first-year teaching job in the cloudy coastal town of Clallam Bay. Across the country and away from everyone she knew, she found herself building new friendships and quietly observing the actions of her next door neighbor, local charmer Collin Locke. The two forged an unlikely friendship, but for Hailey, it became much more.

He wasn't what she was expecting.
She wasn't his type.
Or so she thought.

Too bad growing closer to Coll also meant questioning what she really wanted out of life. Would a few stolen moments and some weather-worn letters be enough to bind them together, or would the tides of uncertainty rip them apart?

 EXCERPT
Pete stripped down to boxers and donned his running shorts. Not bothering with a shirt, he headed for the beach. There was no way he could get to sleep after his steamy encounter with Jo Parker. Running would clear his mind and calm his body.
He pulled an elastic with his house key on it over his wrist and left. As he walked down the path to the sand, he thought about Jo. Christ, I can’t stop thinking about her! Chilled by the night air, he started to run. He’d known she was sexy, but the way she had surrendered in his arms, well, surprised wasn’t the word. He never thought she’d fall without a major seduction. Flowers, candy, dinners out—now he could forget that. Next date would end in his bed.
Pete could hardly wait. Searching his memory, he couldn’t remember when he had been so turned on so quickly. She’d had him when she’d walked in wearing that sweater. Shit, I could barely keep my eyes or hands off her breasts. Lust had boiled up in his veins when she’d insisted on seeing his bedroom. Standing there with the sea on one side and alluring Jo Parker on the other, a foot from his bed, he could hardly control himself or ignore the protests from his dick.

CHARACTER BIOS

PETE SEBASTIAN - Winning the Super Bowl is just the beginning for Coach Bass, as his team calls him. He walks on water, until his world gets turned upside down by a feisty female. When the new V.P. of Publicity turns out to be a gorgeous blonde, Pete is stopped in his tracks.
Raising twin daughters alone after his wife took a powder, Pete has been too busy to be lonely. But now that his girls are off to college, loneliness has become his constant companion. Bed partners are easy to find, but the right woman, one who loves football almost as much as she loves him isn’t easy. So far, he has come up empty.
With a beautiful woman in the office next door, Pete can hardly concentrate on preparing for training camp. All he wants to do is kiss Jo Parker, but she’s tucked away behind a professional demeanor and not going to play his game.
Never one to throw in the towel, Pete has a strategy to win this woman who keeps one step ahead of him. Can the charming, sexy coach win the affections of the elusive Ms. Parker? Or his he destined to continue on playing a solo game?
JO PARKER - Jo Parker is a woman who knows what she wants, right? She thinks she does. A successful woman in the man’s world of NFL front office, Jo has worked hard and taken lots of guff to rise to the level of vice president of publicity.
Her new job at The Connecticut Kings presents a challenge. Not only does she have to clean up the reputation of a team that fired two players for domestic violence, but she has to resist the practically irresistible charms of the coach, Pete Sebastian.
With her pug, Daisy, tucked under her arm, Jo takes Monroe and the Kings by storm. She rolls in, determined to send the players to anger management, to avoid further bad behavior. But they roadblock her at every step. And leading the resistance is the devastatingly handsome, Coach Bass.
Chemistry and mutual attraction short-circuit Ms. Parker’s plans. She finds herself in unfamiliar waters, falling in love. But love is not in her plans. She doesn’t believe in Prince Charming and she’s not about to give up her independence for a roll in the hay.
But loneliness and a hunger for love, born from a sterile childhood, draw her to the warmth and charm of Pete Sebastian. Will she be able to control her emotions, fight through their mutual attraction to focus on the job and only the job?

EskieMama Reads Review: The Wedding Pact by Katee Robert

Add to Goodreads

Blurb:

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert continues her smoking-hot series about the O'Malleys—wealthy, powerful, and full of scandalous family secrets.

Carrigan O'Malley has always known her arranged marriage would be more about power and prestige than passion. But after one taste of the hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced James Halloran, she's ruined for anyone else. Too bad James and his family are enemy number 1.

Hallorans vs. O'Malleys—that's how it's always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family's empire instead of how silky Carrigan's skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. But not nearly as dangerous as he'll be if he can't get what he wants: Carrigan by his side for the rest of their lives.

Review:                            4 Stars

The Wedding Pact was so different from what I usually read but so worth a change!! I usually do not read anything to do with the mafia but The Wedding Pact has changed my thinking.  The Wedding Pact reminded me of modern day Romeo & Juliet two lovers from enemy families trying to find there way to each other.  I truly regret not reading the first book in the O'Malley's series, there was a lot of references from it but this was a stand alone book. I just feel in love with Carrigan she is the type of heroine I love to read about strong-will, not afraid of anything, told it how it is, except when it came to her father, but that sure changes.  The chemistry between James & Carrigan is so hot you can feel it everytime they are together, you just know they are meant to be together.  For being an enemy of Carrigan, James is always there when she needs him & listens to her, that's more then anyone in her family & allies do.  If you are looking for good mob romance for a rainy day read I recommend The Wedding Pact.  This lady is can not wait to read the next book in the O'Malley series & is definitely getting the first book in the series The Marriage Contract.

When Nicole Alexander moves across country to start a new life in her inherited estate on Starfish Island, she finds herself tangled up in a dangerous web of lies and deceit. Everyone seems to have their eyes on her, and after her home is broken into and she receives a cryptic warning to leave on her first night in the house, Nicole must figure out who is her friend and who is out to scare her away.

Review:                               4 Stars

If you are looking for a book with romance & some mystery with lots of twist & turns then this book is for you. The heroine Nicole is a little scrappy she is always up for a fight doesn't back down from anyone. The romance thru this book makes you wonder who will be together at the end, my lips are locked. The mystery kept me guessing until the end who was causing all the problems, when you think you know who it is you questioning yourself, which I love in a mystery when I decide to pick one up. This was my first book by Deborah Brown and what a delight it was.

Blurb:

The New York Times bestselling author of Big Girl Panties and The Sweet Spot is back with a funny, sweet, and sizzling novel about the game of love, in which a hot quarterback must figure out how to score big with a beautiful and talented media analyst after a heartbreaking fumble.

Star quarterback, first-round draft-pick, and heartthrob Tyson Palmer has made a name for himself with his spectacular moves. When the head coach of the Austin Mavericks refuses to let him waste his million-dollar arm, Tyson makes a Hail Mary pass at redemption and succeeds with everyone . . . except Dani, whose negative comments about his performance draw high ratings and spectacular notices of her own.

Dani can’t forgive Tyson’s transgressions or forget the sizzling history the two of them shared in college, a passionate love Tyson casually threw away. And even more infuriating, he doesn’t realize that the bombshell with huge ratings is the cute girl whose heart he once broke.

But can a woman trying to claw her way to the top and a quarterback who knows all about rock bottom make it to the Super Bowl without destroying each other? And what will happen when Tyson—riding high now that he’s revived his career—realizes he needs to make an even more important comeback with Dani? Can he make some spectacular moves to get past her defenses—or will she sideline him for good?

Review:                                    4 Stars

What a delightful, witty read Total Package was. This was little different from most books I read I usually stay in genre of Romance, yes this book had some Romance but it was mainly more about second chances. Second chance at life, second chance in a profession & second chance at love. It was delightful to watch how Tyson went from a washout drug addicted alcoholic disgrace quarterback to a star clean quarterback after the owner of the Austin Mavericks "forces" to clean his act up. I enjoyed reading everything he went thru to get clean & once clean what really matter in life. And once he finally realized who Dani truly would she give him a second chance to amend their past. This was my very first read by Stephanie Evanovich & hopefully not my last.

Five years ago, Josie Fairmore left timber country in search of a bright future. Now she's back home with a mountain of debt and reeling from a loss that haunts her. Desperate for a job, she turns to the one man she wishes she could avoid. The man who rocked her world one wild night and then walked right out of it.

Former Marine Noah Tager is managing his dad's bar and holding tight to the feeling that his time overseas led to failure. The members of his small town think he's a war hero, but after everything he's witnessed, Noah doesn't want a pat on the back. The only thing he desires is a second chance with his best friend's little sister.

Josie's determined to hold onto her heart and not repeat her mistakes, but when danger arrives on Noah's doorstep and takes aim at Josie, they just might discover that sometimes love is worth the risk.

Review:

After reading Running Wild I could not wait to sink my eyes into Serving Trouble to see if Josie & Noah found their way back to each other, boy did they, but with a little bit a baggage from each. Usually the hero is my favorite character but not with this book it was the heroine Josie she was strong, stubborn, caring, & took no crap from Noah. Noah thought he had to protect her from an unknown stalker that was stalking him & ex-marine Caroline but at the end she showed him she doesn't need protecting. I love a story that can have me laughing one minute & a tear in my eye the next, Serving Trouble was one of those books. I also loved how Sara Jane had the mechanical bull from Running Wild back in Serving Trouble, but used two different ways this time. I loved the suspense element in this book also, love a little suspense in my romances sometimes. I can't not wait to read Dom & Lily's story hopefully we get Caroline & hopefully Caroline & Josh's story. Sara Jane Stone has a new fan & reader.

Maybe Georgie and Bryce weren’t meant to be after all.

Review:                               5 Stars

What a fun enjoyable read Marry Poppins was indeed.  This was the 3rd book in the series of Impossible Dreams & what a delight it was, I really hate to say I haven't read the two first books in the series, but they are definitely going on by TBR list, heck I am a virgin of any books by Beth Ciotta, what a way to get de-flowered.  What isn't there to love about this book it had the small town atmosphere, close friends/sister of the heart feeling, marriage of convenience (as Georgie & Bryce called MFB-Married Friends with Benefits), laughs & yes a few tears all rolled into one book. I love it when I find a romance book that is about romance, family & friends & clean, don't get me wrong I likemy sex scenes but it is nice once in while to just read a clean, sweet romance, & that is what you get with Marry Poppins. If you are looking for a good, clean, fun, enjoyable romance pick up a copy of Marry Poppins today. I received a free copy for my honest review!

He's a mess...

Asher Knight has three constants in his life: music, beautiful women, and a bottle of Jack. He lives for the next gig, the next city, and dreams only of a life spent in front of an arena full of screaming fans. But Asher's nomad ways come to a sudden stop when he learns he's the father of a three-year-old from a past relationship and suddenly this rock star bad boy is forced to put down roots.

Only she can clean up

Gloria Shields is no one's fool. Sure, the sexual chemistry between her and Asher has always been intense, but she'd never risk giving her heart to a man who has a perfect record for breaking them. Except the man desperate to make things right with his newfound son is nothing like the rock god she's guarded her heart against for years. And it isn't long before she starts to wonder if life with this bad boy might be the best thing that's ever happened to her.

Review:                                4 1/2 Stars

Who doesn't love a bad boy & a rock star bad boy to boot, I know this girl sure does!  I fell in love with Asher, wow what a hot piece of male specimen there, all "9 inches", when he wanted something he sure went after it, especially after that one night of sex with Gloria & their eyes met, he knew she was the one & if it meant going all "caveman" with her, game on. But with Gloria he had to earn her trust & he had to find a way to get her to let him in, after the life she had, she felt she wasn't loveable, drug addicts for parents & the one person who she knew that loved her, her grandmother, didn't recognize her with her alzhemeiers, she was a loner & didn't hardly let any people into her personal space.  But when she finally starts letting her heart care she does it with even realizing it, especially when it comes to Jordan, Asher's baby mama, wow does she go all bitch out on her. I just loved the chemistry with Asher & Gloria it was off the charts. I also loved the closeness between Gloria & Ashers friends especially how they give advice in there seldom way.  If you are looking for a good rock star, bad boy book I recommend you pick up Return of the Bad Boy, you will not reget it. Now this lady needs to go back & get the other three books to read about Evan & Charly, Donovan & Sofie, Connor & Faith.  I received a free copy of Return of the Bad Boy for my honest review!
